Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Kenya, Visited BJTU

On the morning of June 6, 2016, the delegation led by H.E. Mr. James Wainaina Macharia, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Kenya, H.E. Mr. Michael D.M. Kinyanjui, Kenyan Ambassador to China ands Mr. LU Shan, General Manager of China Road and Bridge Corporation visited BJTU and held talks with 25 Kenyan students studying Railway Engineering at BJTU. Vice President attended the meeting.

Vice President CHEN Feng extended welcome to the Kenyan delegation and introduced the history and strength discipline of BJTU. He hoped that with the support from the Kenyan Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, BJTU and China Road and Bridge Corporation would join hands to play more important roles in the mutual exchange on railway engineering and talent cultivation.  

Mr. Michael D.M. Kinyanjui reviewed the history of bilateral relations and expressed the hope for the future partnership between China and Kenya.

H.E. Mr. James Wainaina Macharia expressed gratitude to BJTU and China Road and Bridge Corporation for the jointly cultivation for the Kenyan students on Railway Engineering and expressed hope for the future cooperation on transport, infrastructure and talent cultivation between China and Kenya. He also encouraged the 25 Kenyan students to study hard and make contributions for their motherland when they return home and become the messengers of friendship between Kenya and China.

Mr. MA Qiang, Chairman of the School of Civil Engineering introduced the study and lives of the Kenyan students over the past two months. 

Ms. NAKAYO, representative of the Kenyan students extended welcome to the delegation in Chinese. She said they would make full use of the facilities of BJTU to study hard and make progress.

After the meeting, Mr. James Wainaina Macharia and other officials also took pictures with the 25 Kenyan students. Afterwards, they visited the students’ dormitory and said they would come back to BJTU in the future.
