On the morning of March 12, 2015, Vice President CHEN Feng met with Marios M. Polycarpou, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Director of the KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks at the University of Cyprus.
CHEN Feng extended welcome to Prof. Marios M.Polycarpou on behalf of the University. He pointed out that the rapid development of China’s economy in recent years has strongly promoted the boom of rail transit industry. For the cause of China’s rail transit, we have made remarkable contributions in the research and construction work. The internationalization effort of the University not only places emphasis on the introduction of high-end talents and the cultivation of international students, but also attaches great importance to the implementation of China’s initiatives of “One Belt, One Road” and “Going Global”, the guideline of “Putting Education as a Priority” as well as the substantive cooperation with other universities across the globe. Meanwhile, CHEN hoped that both sides would give play to complementary advantages to enhance cooperation. And, he fully supports Prof. Marios M.Polycarpou’s declaration of the "Thousand Foreign Talents Program”.
Prof. Marios M. Polycarpou expressed gratitude to BJTU for the hospitality. He said this visit has deepened his understanding of the University and he was greatly impressed by the research work of Rail Transit and Information and Control of Beijing Jiaotong University. He expected to further strengthen cooperation with us in scientific research and student cultivation of related disciplines. Besides, he would make contributions to the internationalization development of Beijing Jiaotong University.
After the meeting, Prof. Marios M. Polycarpou made a presentation titled “Robust Sensor Fault Detection and Isolation in Cyber-Physical Systems” and interacted with teachers and students.
Principals from the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, Office of Human Resources and Office of International Affairs were also present at the meeting.
