March 4th, 2024, President YU Zujun met with the visiting delegation led by Mr. Yee Boon Cheow, Senior Group Director of Land Transport Authority of Singapore. Vice President GUAN Zhongliang also attended the meeting.

YU Zujun extended a warm welcome to the LTA delegation. He presented background information regarding BJTU’s historical development, strength disciplines, research achievements and contributions to the national transportation industry. He pointed out that Singapore and China are confronted with similar challenges in rail transportation and expressed his hope for cooperation student internship, joint research, talent introduction with the support of the Singaporean and Chinese governments.

Yee Boon Cheow expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and presented the development of public transportation in Singapore, LTA’s business scope and future working plan. He pointed out that, as a country with high population density and urbanization level, Singapore’s economic and social development relies heavily on public transport network, which further underlines the significance of constructing a digital, intelligent and sustainable rail transportation system. He hopes that both sides could strengthen their cooperation in joint research, student exchange as well as well talent recruitment.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the National Engineering Research Center of Rail Transit Operation and Control System of BJTU and participated in a round-table with representatives from School of Automation and Intelligence, School of Electronic and Information Engineering, School of Computer Science and Technology, Traffic Control Technology Co., Ltd and Beijing Elephant Technology Co., Ltd regarding customized talent education, student recruitment, research collaboration, technical training and other potential projects.

Officials from School of Traffic and Transportation, School of Civil Engineering, Career and Entrepreneurial Guidance Center, Office of International Affairs attended the meeting.

Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore is one of the statutory bodies of Singapore Government and an independent agency under the management of Singapore Ministry of Transport. It takes charge of regulating and planning public transport system in Singapore, including public transport services, road and vehicle administration.
