On July 1st and 2nd 2023, the 6th International Conference on Railway Engineering (ICRE) and the Launching Ceremony of the Journal High-speed Railway were held at the International Conference Center of Beijing Jiaotong University with the attendance of President YU Zujun, Vice President JING Tao, Vice President GAO Liang and host by Vice President ZHAO Peng.

On behalf of Beijing Jiaotong University, President YU Zujun extended his warm welcome to the guests and representatives. He highlighted the academic strengths and remarkable achievements of Beijing Jiaotong University in railways. President YU emphasized the university's profound theoretical, technological, talent, and platform foundations in the high-speed railway domain. He pledged comprehensive support for the efficient operation and high-quality development of the journal High-speed Railway. He expressed his hope to promote academic exchanges among experts and scholars in the field of railway engineering, both domestically and internationally.
Representing the Ministry of Education, Mr. GAO Runsheng extended congratulations to the conference. Representing CHINA RAILWAY, Mr. ZHOU Li extended congratulations to the conference and the creation of the journal. Prof. CHEN Feng stated that as the "blank spaces" in the railway network in central and western China being filled and the China's railway go global accelerating, the country's railway infrastructure still faces challenges posed by complex and extreme operating environments such as climate and geology. He proposed that experts would share cutting-edge achievements in intelligent design, construction, and operation on railway engineering under complex environment for better providing technical support and ensuring the high-quality development of the railway industry.

Prof. LU Chunfang, Academician of the Academy of Engineering and Editor-in-Chief of the journal, expressed the commitment to effectively showcase new theories, technologies, equipment, processes, and materials in the field of high-speed railways. The journal aims to provide a high-level platform for the publication of cutting-edge research achievements in the field of high-speed railways in China, enabling them to be openly shared globally. Prof. LU expressed the expectation that through collective efforts, the journal would be developed into a top-tier publication with international influence, contributing to enhancing the international impact of China's high-speed railway industry.

Under the witness of 33 editorial board members from both domestic and international, as well as more than 200 experts and scholars in the field of railway engineering, Mr. GAO Runsheng, Mr. ZHOU Li, President YU Zujun, Vice President CHEN Feng, Vice President JING Tao, and Vice President GAO Liang jointly pressed the button to inaugurate the launch of the journal.
Editorial board members and young editorial board members, including Prof. CHEN Xiangsheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Anjan Bose, foreign Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Academician of National Academy of Engineering in the United States, Prof. Uday Kumar, Academician of Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, extended congratulations to the launching of the journal by video message.

The conference was attended by experts from more than 30 domestic and international universities, research institutions, and key enterprises in the railway industry. The total number of participants, both online and offline, exceeded 500. The live broadcast of the conference received over 140,000 views, further expanding the international influence of our university in the professional field.

A brief introduction to High-speed Railway
High-speed Railway (HSPR) is an international academic journal in the field of transportation and logistics, sponsored by Beijing Jiaotong University. It has been selected as a high-level new journal under the Excellent Action Plan for Chinese Science and Technology Journals.
HSPR is led by Prof. LU Chunfang, Academician of the Academy of Engineering and Chairman of China Railway Society, is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. Prof. YU Zujun, President of Beijing Jiaotong University, serves as the Executive Editor-in-Chief. The journal is home to 30 editorial board members, with 60% of whom are from the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and France, etc. The editorial board includes academicians from scientific academies and engineering academies of countries like the United States, Australia, Japan, Singapore, and Greece.
HSPR aims to disseminate new theories and technologies, explore theoretical and practical issues in the development of high-speed railways, and adhere to the principle of combining theory and practice, as well as introducing and innovating. The journal strives to reflect the latest achievements in high-speed railway planning and design, operation and management, high-speed railway equipment as well as railway engineering. It promotes academic exchange and cooperation internationally, enhances the international influence of China's high-speed railway industry, and contributes to the development of high-speed railway technology worldwide.
