Delegation from the University of Sydney, Australia Visited BJTU



On the afternoon of October 17, 2014, Vice President CHEN Feng met with Prof. Archie Johnston, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies and Prof. Joe Dong, Head of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia.

CHEN Feng extended welcome to the guests on behalf of the University. He briefed the strength disciplines in rail transit of BJTU and its contributions to the development of traffic and transportation, especially in the construction of China’s high-speed railways. He said the University has been implementing the national high-speed railway “going global” strategy to build laboratories with overseas high-level universities and provide training programs for technicians from Thailand and African countries. He hoped that both sides would enhance talents cultivation and cooperative research in the emerging field of new energy and traditional disciplines.

Prof. Archie Johnston expressed gratitude to BJTU for the hospitality. He spoke highly of the reputation and outcomes we have achieved in recent years. He said he would continue to support the bilateral undergraduate collaborative education programs and adopt the suggestions of BJTU on undergraduate-master collaborative education programs. He welcomed students from BJTU to apply for the national government-funded doctoral programs of China Scholarship Council. Meanwhile, he noticed that BJTU has made scientific achievements in new energy and expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange in relevant field.

Before the meeting, the guests discussed student collaborative education programs and the joint establishment of research center with principals from the School of Electrical Engineering and the Office of International Affairs.
