Foreign Expert Professor Jin Ho Kwak Honored with Beijing Great Wall Friendship Award

On the morning of April 2, 2014, the Awarding Ceremony of 2011-2013 Beijing Great Wall Award was held by Beijing Municipal Government, unveiling winners of 2011-2013 Beijing Great Wall Award. Prof. Jin Ho Kwak, visiting scholar from School of Science of Beijing Jiaotong University, and 14 other foreign experts across all industries, were honored with this award. Mayor of Beijing, Mr. WANG Anshun attended the ceremony and presented the awards to winners.

Prof. Kwak is an academician of Korean Academy of Science and Academy of Engineering, also a professor of Pohang University of Science and Technology. He is engaged in combinatirics, including topological graph theory, enumerative, combinatorics, and combinatorial topology, which makes him a famous expert in topology theory and the leader of combinatiorial methods in Korea. In March 2012, he was selected into the first “1000 Talent Plan--Recruitment Program of Foreign Experts”. He has made active use of his competence in the profession to exchange ideas with other teachers and students, proposed suggestions on discipline development, talent cultivation, and academic research of BJTU, and made great contributions to the improvement on research competence and upgrading of academic level of BJTU.

Background information:
Beijing Great Wall Award, set up in 1999, is the top award given by Beijing Municipal Government for foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the economic and social progress of Beijing. Since 1999, 160 foreign experts have been honored with this award.
