In the morning of 30 August, the opening ceremony for the students 2013 was held at Beijing Jiaotong University. Together with more 7000 new students, the university leaderships, experts of supervising group form State Council, academicians from Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering, faulty representatives, new students instructors and some students’ family members participated in the event.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Vice Chairperson of the University Council, Madam GAO Yan. She made a brief introduction of information regarding the new students 2013. There are 3416 postgraduate students, 3476 undergraduate， 541 vocational education students and 384 international students enrolling this academic year.

President NING Bin addressed this ceremony. NING Bin extended warm welcome to the new students 2013 and made a brief introduction of Beijing Jiaotong University in terms of history, achievements and vision. He gave three hopes to the students and wish them have a splendid university life at BJTU.

Prof. XU Shoubo, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering gave a speech on behalf of faculty of BJTU. Ph.D candidate ZHANG Yue spoke on behalf of all the students.
