CAO Guoyong Visited 5 Universities in Jordan, Israel and Italy

From September 27 to October 3, 2016, Mr. CAO Guoyong, Chairman of the University Council, was invited to visit the Princess Sumaya University for Technology and the Hashemite University in Jordan, the Israel Institute of Technology in Israel and the Politecnico di Milano and the University of Bologna in Italy. CAO Guoyong exchanged views and reached consensuses with the principals of the five universities.

During the visit at the Princess Sumaya University for Technology, CAO exchanged views on student exchange, joint education, mutual visits and scientific research with Rector of the university. Both sides have also signed the MoU.

Besides, CAO also signed the MoU with Vice Rector Avery Zohair Acamie between BJTU and the Hashemite University.

At the Israel Institute of Technology, CAO exchanged views and reached consensuses with Vice Rector Prof. Paul Faigin on student joint education, faculty joint research and articulation plan. They also heard the introductions on industry-university cooperation, commercialization of research findings, innovation and entrepreneurship education and cultivation of international students by principals from the Innovation and Knowledge Center, Bronica Entrepreneurship Center and International Office of Israel Institute of Technology.

During the visit in Israel, CAO also met with Prof. Ivy Side, Expert of BJTU“111”Plan of Rail Traffic Control and Safety.

At the Politecnico di Milano, Italy, CAO Guoyong heard the university introduction by Vice Rector Mark Empriderry. Both sides exchanged views and reached consensuses on teachers and students academic cooperation. CAO also visited some related laboratories at the Politecnico di Milano.

During the visit, CAO also met with BJTU students who are participating in the EU ACE Master Program at the Politecnico di Milano. He encouraged them to study hard and successfully finished the studies.

At the University of Bologna, known as the “Mother of University” (oldest university in western country), CAO Guoyong exchanged views with Rector Prof. Francesco Ubertini, hearing the university introductions by Antonio Phil (Vice Rector in charge of Asian affairs) and principals from the School of Industry and Engineering and Office of International Relations. They also visited the teaching facilities and museum with a history of hundreds of years.

This visit initiated the cooperative history between BJTU and Jordanian universities, deepened the mutual understandings with Israeli and Italian universities, exchanged views on student exchange, joint education, faculty exchange and scientific research, reached many consensuses, signed several agreements, upgraded the cooperative level, showed the features and achievements of BJTU and made a lot of fruitful achievements.

Principals from the Office of Policy Research, Office of International Affairs, Graduate School and School of Languages and Communication Studies also accompanied the visit.
