CAO Guoyong Met with Distinguished Guests of Global Universities

From September 8 to 12, 2016, Mr. CAO Guoyong, Chairman of the University Council, met with the distinguished guests from the University of Dalhousie (Canada), RMUTT, RMUTL and RMUTI from Thailand, Egpytian Chinese University (Egypt), National Dong Hwa University (Taiwan) and Yokohama National University (Japan) who were all invited to attend the 120 anniversary celebration of BJTU. On behalf of BJTU, CAO Guoyong extended warm welcome to all the global friends and spoke highly of the efforts made by all the university faculty and students.

On September 9, CAO Guoyong met with Mr. Richard Florizone, President of the University of Dalhousie, Canada. He hoped that both sides would continue to enhance cooperation on engineering, taking the opportunity of the establishment of the Big Data Research Center to promote scientific innovation and faculty exchange. Mr. Richard Florizone suggested that both sides would strengthen future cooperation and also invited BJTU to attend the 200 anniversary celebration of the University of Dalhousie in 2018.

On September 9, 2016, CAO Guoyong met with Mr. Mohamed Essam Khalifa, President of the Egyptian Chinese University and Mr. Essam Mohamed Ibrahim, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Chinese University. CAO highlighted that BJTU would continue to serve the national “Belt and Road” Initiatives and actively promote the construction of the Egyptian Chinese University. Both sides agreed to carry out cooperation on Civil Engineering, Electronic and Software Engineering. Mr. Hussein Ibrahim, Cultural Councilor of the Egyptian Embassy in China was also presented at the meeting and promised to strengthen support for the international students of BJTU.

On September 10, 2016, CAO met with Mr. Yuichi Hasebe, President of Yokohama National University, Japan. He hoped that both sides would further extend cooperative areas on Economy, Civil Engineering and Urban Designing.  

On September 8 and 12, 2016, Mr. CAO Guoyong, Chairman of the University Council, met with Mr. Numyoot Songthanapitak (President of Rajamangala University of Techonology Lanna, Thailand), Mr. Prasert Pinpathomrat (President of Rajamangala University of Techonology Thanyaburi, Thailand) and Mr. Viroj Limkaisang (President of Rajamangala University of Techonology Isan, Thailand), respectively.

CAO Guoyong pointed out that BJTU keeps close relations with ASEAN universities including Thailand in recent years. BJTU has held many training programs for Thai railway management and technician personnel, which was fully supported by Thai government and Thai Embassy in China. CAO hoped that the Thai counterpart would actively participate in the construction of the Association of China-ASEAN Rail Transit Education and Training and make contributions to the development of the Association as well as the social and economic development of the whole region. Mr. Prasert Pinpathomrat pointed out that the visit would help promote the cooperative relations between RMUTT and BJTU and also extend to the 9 RMUT universities. Then, both sides renewed the MoU between BJTU and RMUTT.

On September 8, CAO Guoyong met with Mr. Han-Chieh Chao, President of National Dong Hwa University. He hoped that both parties would extend the cooperative areas to further enhance collaborations on next-generation internet technology and build up multi-disciplinary and multi-layer cooperative relations.

Principals from the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Computer Science and Information Technology, School of Software Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Traffic and Transportation. School of Economics and Management and Office of International Affairs were also present at the meeting.
