The Short-term Training for Construction and Operation Officers of China-Thailand Railway Cooperation Project (1st program) Opens



On the morning of August 31, 2015, the Opening Ceremony of the Short-term Training for Construction and Operation Officers of China-Thailand Railway Cooperation Project (1st program) was held at the Hongguoyuan Hotel.

Ms. Kundhinee Aksornwong, Minister Councilor of the Embassy of Thailand in China, Mr. WANG Shengwen, Director General of Department of Foreign Assistance, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. YANG Zhongmin, Chairman, China Railway International Co., Ltd, China Railway Corporation, Mr. CAO Guoyong, Chairman of the University Council, Mr. LI Jianwen, Vice Leader of China-Thailand Railway Project Coordination Group, CRC, Mr. Piched Tungsaeng, Chief, Technical and Operation Training Division, Personnel Department, State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and 29 Thai participants attended the opening ceremony. Prof. LIU Jun, Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University hosted the ceremony.



First, CAO Guoyong extended warm welcome to all the participants on behalf of the university. Meanwhile, he expressed his gratitude to China’s National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Transport of Thailand, China Railway Corporation and State Railway Corporation of Thailand for the trust on BJTU to undertake the training program. Then, he introduced the talent cultivation, scientific research and international cooperation of BJTU. He pointed out that in recent years, Beijing Jiaotong University grasps the historic opportunities of China’s “Belt and Road” Initiatives and “going out” strategy of high-speed railway to serve the development of rail transit and make great contributions to China’s economic and social development, especially on comprehensive transport system. He hoped that through these activities, the Thai participants would get to know more about China’s high-speed railway and become the messengers of cooperation and exchange between the two countries.



Mr. WANG Shengwen pointed out that to strengthen cooperation on railway construction has become a consensus between the Chinese and Thai governments. He said that we started the training for Thai Railway Construction and Operation Officers today, which was the extension of the last five sessions of “Seminar on High-speed Railway Construction for Thailand”. He hoped through these activities, the Thai participants would get to know more about China’s high-speed railway and become the messengers of cooperation and exchange between the two countries. He would like to take this opportunity to express his sincere gratitude to the China Railway Corporation for the continuous support of the foreign-aid training and personnel exchange. He also expressed his gratitude to Beijing Jiaotong University for the hospitality and elaborate preparations for the training program.



Ms. Kundhinee Aksornwong, on behalf the Thai Embassy in China, expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce, China Railway Corporation and BJTU for the thoughtful preparations for the training program. She said this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. She hoped that through the cooperation of the China-Thailand Railway Cooperation Project, the bilateral relations would be enhanced to a new level.

Mr. Piched Tungsaeng, on behalf of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) of Thailand, introduced the current Railway planning and construction of Thailand. He hoped that the participants would harvest a lot from the training program and make contributions to the China-Thailand Railway Cooperation Project.



Mr. YANG Zhongmin, on behalf of the China Railway Corporation, pointed out that the bilateral railway cooperation is a long-term and all-round cooperation and talent cultivation is the basic work of the railway development. He hoped that through this training program, the Thai participants would get to know more about China’s railway development and give full support to the railway construction and development in Thailand.

After the opening ceremony, Mr. YANG Zhongmin gave the first lecture of “China’s Railway on Fast Track” to the Thai participants.

Principals from the Office of General Administration, Office of International Affairs, School of Traffic and Transportation and National Education and Service Center of Rail Transit Technology were also present at the ceremony.
