Vice Minister of Cuban Higher Education Ministry Visited BJTU





On November 5, 2014, Vice President CHEN Feng met with the delegation from Cuba led by Mrs. Miriam Alpizar Santana, Vice Minister of Cuban Higher Education Ministry.

CHEN Feng extended welcome to the guests on behalf of BJTU and conveyed the regards from Mr. CAO Guoyong, Chaiman of the University Council and President NING Bin. He introduced a lot of research work BJTU has done in the field of high-speed railway over the years and the high-speed railway training programs BJTU has provided for African and Southeast Asian countries. Meanwhile, he introduced the work progress of international cooperation and exchange. He pointed out that BJTU would continue to serve the national high-speed railway “going out” strategy and further strengthen ties with South American countries on education. He hoped that this visit would help BJTU establish academic exchange relations and carry out cooperation with Cuban universities. He also welcomed Cuban students to study at BJTU.

Mrs. Miriam Alpizar Santana expressed gratitude to BJTU for the hospitality. She pointed out that the development of science and technology is essential to revitalize the country. Cuba remains committed to improving domestic educational and technological levels and enhancing high-tech talents cultivation. She said she was greatly impressed by the technology professional education, especially on rail transit of our University. She was willing to establish the links between Cuban Higher Education Ministry and BJTU and expected to send Cuban students to have their graduate studies at BJTU.



Principals from the Center for International Education and the Office of International Affairs were also present at the meeting.

During the visit, the guests also visited BJTU History Hall.
